
Mother, daughter found dead in home in Cumilla

Police recovered the bodies of a mother and daughter in Burichang, Cumilla from a rented house in Rampur area of Burichang upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Jaheda Akhter (35), wife of Mihir Hossain of Joynagar village of Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni, and his elder daughter Mishu Akhter (15). It is learnt that they died of poisoning. Burichang police station officer-in-charge (OC) Azizul Haque confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post.
Police said that Mihir Hossain, his wife Jaheda Akhter and two daughters lived in a rented house of a person Abul Khair in Rampur area of Burichang .
Their village home is in Joynagar area of Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni. They have a lot of debts in the area. The deceased Zaheda's husband, Mihir Hossain, works as a day laborer. His wife, Zaheda, used to work in a garment factory. Apart from Mishu, they have another 5-year-old daughter.
Locals informed the police after seeing the two bodies lying in the rented house early Tuesday morning. The police went to the spot, recovered the two bodies and sent them to the Cumilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
OC Azizul Haque said that both of them died of poisoning. They may have consumed poison at some point in the night. The husband, Mihir Hossain, hid himself after the incident.
However, we have been in contact with him. The police investigation is ongoing to unravel the mystery of the incident. Legal proceedings are underway in this incident.
