National Typhoid Vaccination Campaign inaugurated in Sundarganj

The National Typhoid Vaccination Campaign has been officially inaugurated in Sundarganj, Gaibandha. Under this program, 1,25,918 children of the upazila will be vaccinated against typhoid.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Jasim Uddin inaugurated the campaign as the chief guest at a program organized at Shahid Minar Government Primary School in Sundarganj Municipality on Sunday morning.
At this time, a brief discussion meeting was held under the chairmanship of Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Dibakar Basak. Upazila Health Complex RMO Dr. Atiar Sohag, Upazila Education Officer Nur Mohammad, Upazila Academic Supervisor Belal Hossain, Upazila ICT Officer Krinch Chandra Roy, Sanitary Inspector Shoyan Ahmed and Health Inspector (in-charge) Zulfikar Ali Sardar Chandan spoke in the meeting.
Health assistants Shilpi Rani, Sanchita Rani and Marina Akhter vaccinated the children. On the first day, 140 children from the school were given one dose of typhoid vaccine.
According to the Upazila Health Complex, the month-long national typhoid vaccination campaign will continue until November 13. Under this campaign, 82,266 school-going students and 43,652 community-level children of the upazila will be vaccinated. All children aged 9 months to less than 15 years will be covered under the vaccination.
To ensure smooth completion of the vaccination program, vaccinations will be administered simultaneously at school-based camps and local EPI vaccination centers in the upazila. Parents are urged to complete the registration online using their children's birth certificates.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Dibakar Basak said, 'Typhoid is a deadly bacterial disease. If this vaccination program is successfully implemented, the immunity of children in the upazila will increase and the risk of typhoid will be significantly reduced.'
