Navy rescued 12 fishermen with trawler from Bay, handed over to Coast Guard

The Bangladesh Navy has rescued 12 fishermen along with their trawler, which was adrift in the Bay of Bengal due to engine failure. On Thursday at approximately 10:30 PM, the Bangladesh Navy ship 'Padma' rescued the 12 fishermen and the fishing trawler 'FB Naim' from the deep waters of the Bay.
Navy sources said , BNS 'Padma' immediately launched the rescue operation despite the prevailing 'Warning Signal No. 3,' the darkness of night, adverse weather, and rough sea conditions (Sea State 4). After several hours of intensive searching, the drifting trawler was located using radar. Subsequently, at 10:30 PM, BNS 'Padma' successfully rescued 'FB Naim' and the 12 fishermen on board. One injured fisherman received first aid during the operation. Later, the 12 rescued fishermen and their trawler were handed over to the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
The trawler had set out from Payra Port into the Bay of Bengal for fishing on September 8, 2026. On the night of September 9, 2026, the trawler's engine failed, leaving it adrift in the Bay with the 12 fishermen on board.
