NBR extends online VAT return filing deadline to Oct 15

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for submitting online value-added tax (VAT) returns for the July and August 2026 tax periods to October 15.
No penalty will be imposed on the concerned businesses if they submit their returns within the extended deadline.The NBR disclosed the decision in an order issued today.
According to the order, following the revised VAT return provisions introduced in the NationalBudget for fiscal year 2026-27, some businesses did not submit their VAT returns for the July and August 2026 tax periods through the eVAT system.
In this context, the NBR extended the deadline until October 15 under the authority granted by Section 64(3) of the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012.
The order stated that the concerned businesses must submit their VAT returns for the July,August and September 2026 tax periods through the eVAT system by October 15, 2026.
The order was issued in the public interest, it added.
