Neglect, lack of regular practice compromise athletes at Jashore District Sports Association

Despite national directives to revitalize sports and nurture grassroots talent across all 64 districts, Jashore District Sports Association (DSA) faces severe management stagnation, leaving local athletes without adequate practice facilities or expert coaching.
Young sports enthusiasts in Jessore currently lack dedicated spaces and systematic training programs, severely disrupting player development and leading to a sharp decline in national-level athletic achievements for the district.
Local athletes and former administrators allege that rather than fostering competitive sports, certain corrupt committee members prioritize infrastructure repair and construction budgets over grassroots development.
Expressing concern over the current state of affairs, former DSA general secretary Shafiquzzaman (Shafiq) noted that subsequent management failed to sustain the historic legacy and national-level success previously achieved by the association. Former general secretary Maruful Islam attributed the decline to political bias and the inclusion of unqualified individuals in sub-committees, while another former general secretary, Yakub Kabir, highlighted past infrastructure initiatives and called for administrative intervention.
Local residents and athletes have urged the Deputy Commissioner and district administration to reorganize the sports association, eliminate corrupt practices, and establish proper training facilities to restore Jessore's sports heritage.
