Police should ensure friendly interactions to enhance public trust: DIG Zahidul Hasan

Khorshed Alam, Sherpur

Mymensingh Range DIG Mohammad Zahidul Hasan, BPM-Seba, has stated that friendly and positive interactions between police officers and the general public serve as one of the primary means to enhance the image of the police force. He emphasized that earning the trust and love of citizens must be achieved through good behavior, while maintaining absolute firmness in upholding the law.

The DIG made these remarks on Wednesday while addressing the officers as the chief guest at a special welfare meeting organized by the district police at the Sherpur Police Lines Academy.

Upon his arrival at the Police Lines in accordance with a scheduled itinerary, DIG Mohammad Zahidul Hasan was greeted with floral bouquets and a warm reception by Superintendent of Police AKM Zahirul Islam on behalf of the Sherpur District Police. Subsequently, a well-equipped contingent of the district police presented him with a guard of honor.

Presided over by Superintendent of Police AKM Zahirul Islam, the special welfare meeting took place at the Police Lines multipurpose shed. The proceedings commenced with the recitation of holy scriptures. During the meeting, the Range DIG interacted with district police personnel across various ranks, listened to their grievances and welfare-related concerns, and issued immediate directives and decisions regarding those matters.

As the chief guest, the DIG remarked that police behavior toward the public must be refined and humane, while ensuring that the enforcement of the law remains uncompromisingly firm. Earning the public's trust and love through courteous conduct is the principal way to elevate the police's standing, he added.

He urged every member of the force to strictly adhere to dress codes, maintain professional discipline, and prioritize health awareness and cleanliness. Furthermore, he gave necessary instructions to relevant officials to boost the morale and ensure the overall welfare of police personnel, calling for swift implementation.

Following the welfare meeting, the DIG inspected the In-Service Training Center in Sherpur, located within the Police Lines. There, he participated as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of a course titled "Motivational Training and Moral Development of Police in Building a Service-Oriented Police Force," organized for personnel ranging from constables to un-armed police inspectors.

Later, as part of the nationwide "25 Crore Tree Plantation Campaign" under the 5-year initiative, the DIG planted a sapling on the Police Lines premises. He also formally released fish fry into the Police Lines pond under the slogan, "A Self-Reliant Country Through Silver Fisheries, Bangladesh First."

Subsequently, the DIG attended a law and order coordination meeting at the Superintendent of Police's office conference room, joined by senior district police officials and officers-in-charge of various police stations. During the meeting, he provided vital directives to relevant authorities to keep the district's overall law and order situation under control.

The meeting was attended by Sherpur Superintendent of Police AKM Zahirul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Admin and Finance) Md. Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Nasrin Akter, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Nalitabari Circle) Afsan-Al-Alam, and Probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police Sarkar Farhad Ahmed, alongside other senior officials of the district police.
