A meeting was held with local dignitaries and journalists by Rajnagar Zone in Longadu on Wednesday at 10 am under the overall supervision of Rajnagar Zone (37 BGB) in Longadu Upazila in the presence of local headmen, traders, chairman, members, dignitaries and journalists. The meeting was presided over by the Zone Commander of Rajnagar Zone.

The overall law and order situation in the area under its responsibility was reviewed and the importance of harmony and peaceful coexistence between the hill and Bengali people was emphasized.

In addition, important discussions were held on preparing for possible natural disasters and floods during the monsoon season, preventing illegal infiltration into border areas, preventing cattle smuggling and skin smuggling on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, and increasing public awareness to prevent drug and illegal arms smuggling.

The guests present at the meeting highlighted various contemporary problems in the area of responsibility of Rajnagar Zone through open discussion and expression of opinions and sought the cooperation of BGB.

The Zone Commander advised all those present to immediately inform the nearest BGB camp if any unpleasant incident, extortion, kidnapping or terrorist activities occur in the area of responsibility.

The meeting was attended by the Medical Officer of Rajnagar Zone, the Acting Quartermaster, local public representatives, teachers, headmen-businessmen and journalists, and dignitaries from various professions. After the exchange of views, the Zone Commander provided monthly grants to teachers of 7 backward schools and madrasas in the area under the responsibility of the zone under the Harmony and Development Project and distributed Eid greetings to the headmen and businessmen.

Welcoming such an initiative by the BGB, all those present said that regular such exchange of views will make the overall security of the area and the development of harmony between the hill people and the Bengalis more effective, well-organized and people-friendly.
