Rimon Sikder being  praised  for repairing potholes on roads in Kalapara

Gofran Palash, Kalapara (Patuakhali)

Haji Abul Hasnat Rimon Sikder is getting praise from the citizens for repairing numerous potholes on the roads of Kalapara municipality in Patuakhali.

Rimon took such an initiative to repair the roads in the city after the onset of the monsoon season, as the municipality has not taken any initiative to repair these roads in the city. Rimon Sikder's name is on the lips of working people, rickshaw, auto, van, pickup, trolley, and truck drivers.

Kalapara Municipality was established on March 1, 1997. Currently, it is being run as an 'A' class municipality and about 20,000 people live in this municipality consisting of 9 wards. However, the desired development of this municipality has not been achieved yet. It has not yet reached its goal of providing 100% citizen services. Because when the monsoon comes, the potholes created on the main roads of the city get filled with water. Those potholes cause damage to vehicles and cause hardship and suffering to pedestrians. Even muddy water spills on the wheels of vehicles and spoils the clothes of pedestrians, which is often a source of annoyance. In this, citizens can hear interesting discussions about the responsibilities of the municipal officials and employees.

Manik, a resident of Ward No. 3 of Rahmatpur in the city, said, 'It has been seen that whoever becomes the mayor of the municipality uses his relatives to carry out development work. Since this is not done properly, in a few days, numerous potholes are created on the road. And there is no end to our suffering, including the passengers, when the wheels of the rickshaws fall on them. Then the passengers abuse the municipal representatives, the mayor and the councilors. Even after the monsoon, the municipality did not repair the roads, so we pray for BNP leader Rimon Sikder who took personal initiative to repair the road.'

Arif Sikder, a businessman from Ward No. 2 of Notun Bazar, said, "From now on, the goods-carrying vehicles of those we do business with will be able to move freely on the city roads. For this, we applaud him on behalf of the businessmen."

Russell Molla, a citizen of the municipality, said, "Rimon Sikder is a citizen-friendly person. He has already won people's praise by organizing tournaments like football, cricket, badminton, volleyball, and Hadud on his personal initiative to attract the youth to sports to prevent the spread of drugs. Citizens expect such young leadership from the leadership of the municipality in the coming days."

Kalapara Municipality Executive Engineer Md. Mashiur Rahman said, "The decision to repair was taken after learning about the matter from the officials in charge of the municipality councilors in a meeting. Later I came to know that Haji Saheb's son Rimon Sikder has started the renovation work on his own initiative. If someone takes such an initiative out of love for the people of his own city, we cannot stop him. If more people like him come forward, this city will become citizen-friendly.'

Upazila BNP Youth Affairs Secretary, prominent sports organizer Haji Abul Hasnat Rimon Sikder said, 'For some time now, I have been hearing from vehicle drivers and citizens about the suffering caused by potholes on the city roads.

Later, in view of the demands of the citizens, I brought a few trucks of bricks from my own brick kiln and started renovation work by filling these potholes. I seek everyone's cooperation to keep myself always engaged in the service of the citizens.'
