Md. Sarwar Alam, the widely discussed magistrate of the administration, has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Sylhet.
Currently, Officer Sarwar Alam, at the rank of Deputy Secretary, is serving as the private secretary (PS) to Adviser Asif Nazrul of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification appointing him as the DC of Sylhet on Monday.
Sarwar Alam, an officer of the 27th BCS Administration Cadre, was well-known as the Executive Magistrate of RAB.
While serving as Senior Assistant Secretary, he earned widespread praise for conducting over three hundred anti-adulteration operations as RAB’s Executive Magistrate.
On 9 November 2020, he was transferred to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment as Senior Assistant Secretary.
After being denied promotion three times, he was finally promoted to the rank of Deputy Secretary on 14 August last year.
