Schoolgirl's body found near her house in Kurigram

Police have recovered the body of a schoolgirl named Jannati (15) from a crop field in Kurigram Sadar Upazila.
The body was recovered from next to a house in Kagojipara village of Holokhana union of the upazila at around 8 am on Saturday.
The deceased, Jannati, was a ninth-grade student at the local Kagojipara High School and the daughter of farmer Zahidul Haque.
Police said the body had injury marks on its head. Although initial signs of murder were found, the incident is under investigation. The body has been sent to the Kurigram Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Family members said that the deceased Jannati was at home at night. Later in the morning, her body was found on the land next to the house. The family of the deceased suspects that the murder was committed by a rival over a land dispute.
Kurigram Sadar Police Station OC Habibullah confirmed the incident and said, "The body has been recovered from the scene and legal proceedings have been initiated. Legal action will be taken based on the investigation after receiving a written complaint."
