
Seminar held at DU Department of International Relations

A seminar on “Harnessing the Youth Dividend: Strategic Imperatives for Bangladesh in a Changing World” was organized on Thursday, at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmad Chowdhury Auditorium by the Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka.
Dhaka University’s Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha attended the inaugural session of the day-long seminar as the chief guest. The event was organized in collaboration with the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS).
Chaired by Prof Dr. A.S.M. Ali Ashraf, Chairperson of the Department of International Relations, the seminar was also addressed by Maldives High Commissioner to Bangladesh Shiuneen Rasheed, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam, and BIISS Director General Major General Iftekhar Anis as special guests. Professor Dr. Rashed Uz Zaman of the Department of International Relations moderated the event, while BIISS Research Director Colonel A.H.M. Yaseen Chowdhury delivered the vote of thanks.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Sayema Haque Bidisha said, a large portion of the country’s population consists of youth. “We witnessed the courage and strength of the youth during the July mass uprising. Now is the right time to harness this power to advance the nation.
Maldives High Commissioner Shiuneen Rasheed stressed the importance of aligning education with professional opportunities to develop youth as skilled human resources.
It may be mentioned that the seminar featured three sessions where teachers, researchers, students, and representatives from various organizations presented papers.
