Senior Member of the National Press Club Poet Al Mujahidi no more

Poet Al Mujahidi, a senior member of the National Press Club, is no more. He passed away at 1.40 pm on Friday while undergoing treatment at United Hospital (Innalillahi wa inna ilayhe rajeun).
He was 85 years old. He had been suffering from various physical ailments for a long time. He is survived by a son and a daughter, numerous relatives, colleagues and admirers.
His funeral will be held at the National Press Club tomorrow at 12 noon. After the funeral, he will be buried at the Mirpur Intellectuals' Cemetery.
Poet Al Mujahidi was born on June 19, 1943, in Tangail. He served as the literary editor of the daily Ittefaq for more than three decades. Ekushey Padak-winning poet Al Mujahidi has published more than fifty books, including more than twenty collections of poetry. In addition to poetry, he has also written novels, short stories, and children's books.
National Press Club President Hasan Hafiz and General Secretary Ayub Bhuiyan expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of Al Mujahidi. In a statement, the leaders prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased and extended their deepest condolences to his bereaved family members.
