has become a safe haven for the identified drug lord Sheikh Sifatul Islam Joni, who is accused in several drug cases and other cases.
He is grabbing money in the name of favoritism and arbitration in the area with his close associates, and a day-to-night lobbying business is going on in the police station. From morning till late at night, he is seen sitting in the OC room in the police station and nearby tea shops, conducting various transactions. This has created panic in the public mind, raising various questions.
Drug lord Sheikh Sifatul Islam Johnny is the son of the late Ripon Sheikh of Khilgaon village of Hiron in Rashunia union of the upazila.
Many people who do not want to be named said that all of Johnny's family members are involved in drug trafficking. He is a known drug dealer in the area. In the past few days, even after information about Johnny's multiple misdeeds was published in various newspapers, Johnny's drug trafficking has increased because the administration did not take any action. There are many allegations against him of extortion, forcible entry and when Awami League leaders and drug dealers were arrested, he came to the police station and lobbied to get the accused released.
When asked about this, accused drug lord Sheikh Sifatul Islam Joni said, "I don't have my own office. Since I was a child, I used to sit in tea shops and police stations in front of the police station, and people would take me to the police station for trial and arbitration." In response to the question of how you can get a trial and arbitration at the police station when you and your wife have multiple drug cases, he said, "The DB police caught me a long time ago and framed me in a false case."
Sirajdikhan Police Station OC Shahed Al Mamun said, "I have come here to establish the rule of law. Everyone can come to me and to my knowledge, there is no case against Sheikh Sifatul Islam Joni. There is a case against his wife."
