The cultural organization Sketch Academy of Fine Arts, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, hosted a dance performance and honored eminent personalities on Sunday evening to mark 'Nazrul Year' in memory of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

The cultural event took place at 6:30 pm on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the National Music and Dance Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segunbagicha, Dhaka. Planned and supervised by Mahmud Niaz Chandradwip, the ceremony was attended by Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Agriculture Shahadat Hossain Selim, MP, as the chief guest, with BNP Central Executive Committee Member Abu Naser Muhammad Rahmatullah as a special guest.

Welcoming the gathering, Sultana Akter Sohagi, General Secretary of the organization, expressed gratitude to the distinguished guests and attendees. The event also featured the presence of former Shilpakala Academy Dance Director Deepak Khandakar, former Shanto-Mariam University faculty member and current Kazi Nazrul Institute official Mandira Chowdhury, researcher and Dance Director Dr Nigar Chowdhury, and Vice-President and Advisor of Sketch Academy of Fine Arts Susmita Nasreen.

Performers presented choreography set to popular songs by National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, highlighting themes of nature, childhood, seasonal shifts, monsoon rains, and romanticism—including iconic compositions such as Momer Putul, Projapoti Projapoti, Shukno Patay Nupur Paye, and Beli Phool Ene Dao.

 The event was supported by corporate sponsor PRAN. Distinguish guests commended the initiative of Sketch Academy of Fine Arts, advocating for the continued promotion of Nazrul’s artistic heritage among younger generations.
