Smuggling gold paste in anus: Indian citizen arrested with gold worth Tk 1.55 cr in Satkhira

The Satkhira Battalion (33 BGB) has arrested an Indian national with gold paste worth Tk 1.55 crore, which he was carrying inside his body (in his anus) in a novel way in Satkhira.
This information was confirmed in a press release sent by the BGB on Monday.
The notification said that on Monday at approximately 9 am, a special operation team of Bhomra ICP conducted a raid at Bhomra Immigration Checkpost based on intelligence information. During this, BGB members were able to seize 813.50 grams of gold paste along with one Indian accused.
The arrested Indian national has been identified as Zahir Shah Golam Hossain (43). He is the son of Golam Hossain Sher Khan of Cheeta Camp area of Mumbai, India. His Indian passport number is Z6487458.
BGB said that Zahir Shah was arrested as a suspect from Bhomra Immigration Checkpost based on a secret information that gold would be smuggled from Bangladesh to India by evading customs. During initial interrogation, he denied smuggling gold and was taken to a nearby hospital for a physical examination. Later, through X-ray and intensive physical examination in the presence of hospital doctors, the existence of gold paste in 02 packets specially hidden inside his body (anus) was identified and recovered.
The total weight of the recovered gold paste is 813.50 grams, with an estimated current market value of Tk 1.55 crore.
Lt. Col. Kazi Ashikur Rahman (OSP, PSC), commander of Satkhira Battalion (33 BGB), said that BGB will continue such tough operations and activities to maintain border security, prevent smuggling, and ensure the economic security of the country.
