Sports competition, award ceremony, freshers' reception held at GAU

Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) witnessed a vibrant and inspiring evening on Tuesday as the newly established female residential hall hosted its Annual Indoor Sports Competition 202324, awards ceremony and reception to newly enrolled Master of Science (MS) students.
The event, marked by celebration, inspiration, and expressions of respect and potential, was held in the halls conference room and attended by both new and senior students.
The event was presided over by Prof Dr. Farhana Yeasmin, Provost of the hall. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Among the distinguished guests were Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. M. Moynul Haque, Treasurer Prof Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad, Dean of Graduate Studies Professor Dr. Md. Ramiz Uddin Miah, and Director of Student Welfare Prof Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam. Assistant Provosts Erin Zaman and Monira Parvin Moon, as well as House Tutor Jannatul Ferdous Smriti, and other hall staff were also present at the ceremony.
The event commenced with a warm welcome for the incoming MS students, who were greeted with flowers, crests, and heartfelt messages. In their reflections, the new students shared their initial impressions and aspirations, adding a personal and emotional touch to the evening.
As a gesture of appreciation, the Provost presented commemorative tokens of honor to the Vice-Chancellor and the invited guests. In her remarks, Professor Dr. Farhana Yeasmin emphasized the hall administration's unwavering commitment to ensuring a supportive and enriching residential environment for all students.
She also expressed gratitude to the university administration for their prompt and proactive support in addressing student needs. Following her speech, the Vice-Chancellor distributed awards to winners of nine competitive events held as part of the annual sports activities within the hall. In his inspiring address, he congratulated the students and underscored the importance of such initiatives in fostering personal growth and academic excellence. He stated, This is more than just an award ceremony; it is a celebration of talent, perseverance, and potential. Initiatives like these play a vital role in promoting the intellectual and emotional development of our female students, lighting the path of inspiration and aspiration.
The evening concluded with a lively and colorful cultural performance, featuring music, poetry recitation, and dance, which created a truly festive and joyous atmosphere throughout the hall.
