Student forcibly raped in Tongibari, youth arrested

Police arrested a youth named Shamim Dewan (22) on charges of raping a 7th grade student in Tongibari, Munshiganj. Shamim is the son of Shahid Dewan of Outshahi village.The victim's father filed a case with Tongibari police station on Sunday night, and the police conducted a raid that night and arrested Shamim.Tongibari police station OC Md. Muhidul Islam confirmed the matter.It is learned that on Saturday (April 12) morning, on the way home from private lessons with Radhanath High School teacher Md. Zakir Hossain, the accused Shamim took Nusrat inside the collapsed building of Bhashani house in Outshahi union of the upazila and hugged Nusrat Akhter (14) from behind. When Nusrat screamed, he tied her face with her headscarf, laid her on the ground and raped her. When the people around her came forward to hear Nusrat's screams, the rapist Shamim Dewan fled.Tongibari Police Station OC Md. Muhidul Islam said, after Nusrat's rape case was filed, a raid was conducted at night and the accused Shamim Dewan was arrested. Today, he was sent to jail through the court.
