SUST Press Club holds handover, inauguration ceremony

The handover of responsibilities of the 20th Executive committee and the inauguration of the 21st Executive committee of the Shahjalal University Press Club were held on Wednesday at 3:00 PM at the university’s mini auditorium.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. A.M. Sarwaruddin Chowdhury, attended the event as the chief guest. In his speech, he said that journalists act as the mirror of society. Through truthful and objective reporting, they play an indispensable role in building a healthy society. He expressed hope that the members of the university press club would practice responsible journalism and highlight the positive image of the campus.
Special guests included Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shajedul Karim, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Ismail Hossain, President of Sylhet Press Club Muktabis-Un Nur, and President of Sylhet Zilla Press Club Moin Uddin.
At the beginning of the program, the President of the 20th committee, Jubiadul Hoque Robin, and General Secretary Naeem Ahmed Shuvo formally handed over responsibilities to the leaders of the 21st committee.
The event was chaired by the current President of the club, Noman Foysal, and conducted by General Secretary Nur Alam. During the program, the inauguration souvenir titled “Dipon” was also unveiled.
Teachers and students from various departments, heads of offices, officials, employees, and leaders and members of different political, social, and voluntary organizations, as well as leaders of Sylhet Press Club and Sylhet District Press Club, were present.
