
Teachers’ gathering, reception to outstanding students in Betagi

A teachers’ gathering and award ceremony for meritorious students was held in Betagi, Barguna, where 40 outstanding students were honoured with crests and certificates for their academic excellence.
The event took place on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Betagi Girls’ School and College auditorium, under the initiative of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, as part of the Performance-Based Grants for Secondary Institutions Scheme (SEDP).
During the gathering, government officials, teachers, and students from the 2022–2023 academic year shared stories of their journeys toward excellence and success.
Md. Jasim Uddin, Barguna District Education Officer, presided over the event, while Betagi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Bipul Sikder was present as the chief guest. The program was conducted by Saiful Islam Fuad, lecturer of Karuna Mokamia Alia Madrasa.
A moment of silence and special prayers were held for the students of Milestone School and College, Uttara, who were killed or injured in a plane crash.
Special guests who spoke at the event included: Nazrul Islam Shimul, Acting Principal of Betagi Girls’ School and College, A.S.M. Riazur Rahman, Principal of Mosharref Hossain Degree College, Maulana Shahjahan Kabir, Acting Head Teacher of Betagi Pilot Secondary School, Fazlul Haque, Head Teacher of Chandkhali Ishak Secondary School, Aminul Islam, Superintendent of Karuna Girls’ Dakhil Madrasa and Md. Makmudur Rahman, a guardian of one of the awardees
Among the honoured students who also addressed the audience were Tanmay Ahmed, Zahid Hossain, and Onika Islam Priyonti.
The event emphasized the value of education, gratitude toward teachers, and the role of students in shaping the future.
