Two arrested in Sandwip with LG, firearms making equipment, ammunition

In a major crackdown, police in Sandwip, Chattogram arrested two suspects with a locally made LG firearm, firearms manufacturing equipment, seven rounds of ammunition, and three motorcycles.
Acting on a tip-off, the operation was conducted on August 5 at 1:50 AM, under the directive of Chattogram District Superintendent of Police Md. Saiful Islam Santu, BPM (Bar), and supervised by Officer-in-Charge AKM Shafiqul Alam Chowdhury of Sandwip Police Station.
The raid was led by SI Chayon Das Gupta, SI Mazharul Islam, SI Md. Babor Ali, and SI Uttam Roy Chowdhury, along with other police personnel.
The operation was carried out at the southern side of the residence of one Amulya Serang, located in Ward No. 2, Sarikaith Union, Sandwip Upazila. From the spot, police arrested the following individuals:
1. Md. Hannan, son of late Mozammel Hossain, from Ward No. 3, Musapur Union.
2. Md. Arman, son of Md. Soleman, from Ward No. 5, Sarikaith Union.
During a body search, police recovered one locally made LG firearm and two rounds of ammunition concealed in the waistband of Hannan’s trousers.
Based on information obtained from the arrested suspects, police later raided a rented shop used by fugitive suspect Sohel. From there, they recovered:
A large quantity of small tools used for firearms manufacturing Five more rounds of ammunition,Firearms manufacturing machinery,Three motorcycles
A case has been filed at Sandwip Police Station under the Arms Act in connection with the incident. Police have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fugitive suspects.
