Two-day first Political Science Conference begins at DU

A two-day “First Political Science Conference” on ‘The State Reforms in Transitional Democracies: From Mass Uprising to Election and State Building’, jointly organized by the Shadow Reform Commission, Shadow National Consensus Commission and Political and Policy Science Research Foundation, has begun Sunday at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan inaugurated the conference as the chief guest.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by National University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah, Bangladesh Open University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Dil Rawshan Jinnat Ara Nazneen and Political Science Department Chairperson Professor Dr. Nasima Khatun. The conference organizing committee convener and Dhaka University Political Science Department Professor Kazi Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman delivered the welcome address. National Consensus Commission Vice Chairman Professor Ali Riaz presented the keynote address.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan said, "We are going through a transitional period after the July student uprising. At this time, everyone has to remain united to consolidate democracy. We have to move forward together by removing all political and social divisions." He expressed hope that this conference will play an important role in strengthening mutual relations and increasing networks among teachers, researchers and professionals. He sincerely thanked the organizers for organizing this conference on a very timely topic.
Teachers and researchers from various universities will present about 60 papers in 16 sessions of the two-day conference.
