A youth named Rashed Mia (30) has been arrested by RAB on charges of raping an 8th-grade student in Durgapur.
RAB-5 and RAB-12 conducted a joint operation and arrested the youth from the Goyeshabari area under Ataikula Police Station in Pabna on Friday night.
According to a RAB press release, Rashed, son of Ramzan Mondal from Kanthalbariya village of Durgapur Upazila, had been intimidating and luring the victim student with various offers of love for a long time.
the teenage girl was returning home after delivering vegetables to her uncle’s house, Rashed, who had been lying in wait, forcibly covered her mouth and took her to a pear orchard owned by Munbar Shaher in Kanthalbariya village, where he raped her on 27th may. He attempted to hush up the incident by threatening and intimidating her. The victim’s family filed a case at Durgapur Police Station on May 28.
RAB further stated that the arrested Rashed was detained, and during preliminary interrogation, he confessed to the crime. The arrested accused has been handed over to Durgapur Police Station in connection with the rape case.
Durgapur Police Station’s OC Durul Hoda said the arrested accused was taken into police custody on Friday night. On Saturday afternoon, when the accused was produced in court, the honorable court ordered his imprisonment.
