
Field Day held on BRRI Hybrid Rice-8 at Fulbari

A field day and harvest event for BRRI Hybrid Dhan-8 was held at Habibpur village in Dasiaarchhara, a former enclave under Fulbari upazila of Kurigram.
The program was organized on the premises of local farmer Amzad Hossain on Wednesday afternoon with the support of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Fulbari and implemented by the Rangpur regional office of the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI).
The event was moderated by Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer Riazul Islam and presided over by Fulbari Upazila Agriculture Officer Nilufa Yasmin.
Speakers at the event included Dr. Md. Rakibul Hasan, Head of BRRI Regional Office in Rangpur; Senior Scientific Officer (SSO) Selina Jahan; SSO Dr. Anowara Akhter from the Hybrid Rice Division in Gazipur; and farmer Amzad Hossain, among others.
During their speeches, experts highlighted the high yield potential of BRRI Hybrid Dhan-8, which produced approximately 27 maunds (about 1.01 tonnes) per bigha. They encouraged farmers to switch from imported hybrid varieties to this locally developed rice variety for better productivity and self-reliance.
