Program for distributing 'Farmer Cards' and agricultural assistance materials was held at the Bamna Upazila Parishad auditorium in Barguna on Thursday under the slogan "With a Farmer Card in hand, service follows immediately."

The event in Bamna was connected virtually with the national inauguration program in Khulna, where Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially launched the central drive organized by the Ministry of Agriculture. Local farmers, women, imams, muezzins, and community members gathered at the auditorium to receive the cards and agricultural assistance.

Speaking on the occasion, officials noted that the Farmer Card will streamline the direct delivery of government services, agricultural subsidies, incentives, equipment, irrigation support, low-interest loans, insurance, training, and storage and marketing facilities to genuine farmers. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the initiative aims to bring farmers, livestock rearers, and fishers under an integrated digital database to ensure targeted service delivery and transparency.

The preliminary phase of the Farmer Card initiative commenced on April 14, 2026, distributing cards to 22,065 farmers across 11 blocks of 11 upazilas in 10 districts during the pre-pilot stage.

The Bamna program was attended by Barguna District Council Administrator and District BNP Convener Md. Nazrul Islam Mulla, Additional District Commissioner (General) Animesh Biswas, Additional Superintendent of Police, Bamna Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nikhahat Ara, Department of Agricultural Extension Barguna Deputy Director S.M. Badrul Alam, Upazila Agriculture Officer Farzana Tasmin, representative of the Chief Whip of Parliament Alhaj Nurul Islam Moni and industrialist Alhaj Ruhul Amin Sharif, Barguna Press Club President Md. Hafizur Rahman, Reporters Club Barguna President Tariqul Islam Ratan, former Bamna Upazila BNP Convener Abul Kalam Azad Rana, and Bamna Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Faruk, among other local dignitaries.
