12 cows stolen in a night in Subarnachar
Md. Redwan Hossain, Subarnachar (Noakhali)
In a single night, 12 cows were stolen from the same village in Subarnachar, Noakhali, causing panic among local cattle farmers.
The theft occurred around 4 a.m. on Friday, in the Middle Charbata village of Charbata Union in the upazila. From this village, three cows worth 2 lakh taka belonging to Md. Jamal Uddin of the Air Box household, two cows worth 1.5 lakh taka belonging to his brother Kamal Uddin, and five cows worth 3.5 lakh taka belonging to Md. Nur Nabi were stolen. Additionally, two large cows belonging to another person from the same area were also stolen.
The affected farmers reported that when they woke up around 5 a.m., they found the doors of their cattle sheds cut open and not a single cow left inside. This confirmed that the cows had been stolen. These farmers primarily rely on agriculture and cattle rearing to sustain their livelihoods. The theft of their cows has caused them significant financial losses. It is suspected that an organized gang of thieves stole the cows and transported them away in a covered van.
OC of Char Jabbar Police Station, Mohammad Shahin Mia said, the affected farmers have filed a complaint at the police station. Efforts are underway to recover the stolen cows and apprehend the gang of thieves.
