
4 convicted to 10 -years imprisonment with fine in drug case in Lalmonirhat

In a narcotics case in Lalmonirhat, the court has sentenced 4 accused to separate 10 years imprisonment each along with a financial penalty.
Lalmonirhat Court Inspector Md. Amirul Islam said that on Thursday in Session Case No-284/16, GR No-94/2016 (Lal), and Lalmonirhat Police Station Case No-23 dated 23/03/2016 under the Narcotics Control Act of 1990, Section 9(1), Table 7(b) (possession of 25 kg of cannabis), as the prosecution was able to prove the charges, the accused mentioned in the FIR were convicted.
They are: Md. Nurul Islam (59), son of Fajir Uddin of Purbo Fulmati village, Fulbari upazila, Kurigram, Md. Firuk Hossain Faruk (26), son of late Ayub Ali of the same area, Md. Aminul Islam (40), son of late Mokbul Hossain of Teesta Panggatari village, Gokunda Union, Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila and Md. Rasel Mia (25), son of Md. Fozor of the same upazila.
Each was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and fined Tk. 5,000, and in case of default, to suffer 1 month rigorous imprisonment.
The verdict was delivered by the Honorable Joint District and Sessions Judge, 1st Court, Lalmonirhat, Md. Zainal Abedin, on Thursday. As the convicts were present in court during pronouncement, their previous bail order was canceled, and conviction warrants were issued to send them to Lalmonirhat District Jail.
After taking their AFIS, the convicts were sent to prison under police escort along with conviction warrants and case records.
