4 new members appointed to HUST Board

The Ministry of Education has nominated three members to the Board of Regents, the highest policy-making forum of Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology (HUST).
The appointment was confirmed in a notification signed by Md. Shah Alam Siraj, Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Education, on Thursday. The newly nominated members will serve for the next three years.
This nomination has been made in accordance with Sections 18(1)(c) and 18(4) of the Universities Act, 2001.
The newly nominated members are: Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Chairman Dr. Samina Ahmed, Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Director General Dr. Shakila Faruk, and Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute Dinajpur Director General Dr. Md. Mahfuz Bajaj.
The Board of Regents plays a vital role in determining the administrative and academic policies of the university. These new appointments are expected to inject new momentum into the university's policy-making activities. As per the rules, their responsibilities will be effective from the date of issuance of the notification.
