
50 -kg bagair of Padma sold at Tk 80,000

A large 50-kg baghair fish has been caught in a fisherman's net in the Padma River in Daulatdia of Rajbari Goalanda Upazila.
The fish was caught in the net of fisherman Siddiqur Rahman in the Kalabagan area of the Padma River at around 3 pm on Saturday.
When the fish was put up for open auction at Daulatdia Ferry Ghat No. 6, the fish was bought by Md. Chandu Molla, a local fish trader at Daulatdia Ferry Ghat, for Tk 1,550 per kg. Later, the fish was sold to a businessman in Uttara, Dhaka, for a total of Tk 80,000.
Local fish traders said that fisherman Siddiqur Rahman went fishing in the Padma River with his assistants at noon. After casting a net in the river and waiting for a long time, a large tiger fish was caught in the net around 3 pm. Later, when the fish was brought to Rezaul's warehouse for sale, Chandu Molla bought the fish for a total of 77,500 taka at an open auction at a price of 1,550 taka per kg.
Chandu Molla, owner of Chandni & Arifa Fish Shop, said, "When the big baghair fish was put up for open auction, I bought it for 77,500 taka. Later, I brought the fish home to the shop and contacted various places and sold it to a businessman in Uttara, Dhaka, at a profit of 50 taka per kg, for a total of 80,000 taka at a price of 1,600 taka per kg. I made a profit of 2,500 taka by selling the fish."
