Accused dies while running away from police in Noakhali

A warranted suspect named Md. Sohag Chowdhury (35) died after falling while running away from police in Subarnachar Upazila of Noakhali.
The incident took place at around 3:45 pm on Saturday in the Haji Idris Mia Bazar alias Nabir Bazar area of Ward No. 7 of Mohammadpur Union of the upazila.
The deceased, Md. Sohag Chowdhury, is the son of Nur Nabi Chowdhury of Char Uria village in ward number 7 of the same union. He was a warranted accused in several cases, police said.
According to police sources, on Saturday afternoon, based on a secret information, a team of Char Jabbar police station conducted a raid in the Idris Mia Bazar area to arrest the warranted accused Sohag. At that time, sensing the presence of the police, he tried to run away. At one stage, he fell and was injured. He later died.
Police said that there are multiple cases against the deceased Sohag Chowdhury at Char Jabbar Police Station. In one of these cases, there are charges against him under sections 385, 323 and 506(2) of the Penal Code. In addition, another case filed by Char Jabbar Police Station in 2018, there are various charges including sections 143, 341, 323, 307, 326, 379, 427 and 325 of the Penal Code.
Char Jabbar Police Station Oচ Rafiqul Hasan said, "The police conducted a drive to arrest the warranted accused Sohag Chowdhury. Seeing the police talking to the plaintiff in the case, he fell and got injured while running away. I heard that he died later. The body was taken away by the relatives of the deceased."
