Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, emphasized that ideal leadership, professional skill, and high training standards among instructors are paramount to developing the organization into an efficient, citizen-centric, and productive force.
Addressing a guidance and view-exchange meeting with instructors at the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Academy in Safipur on Sunday, the Director General stated that trainers must serve as role models for trainees through their own competence and moral integrity.
The Director General noted that to drive positive transformation among trainees, instructors must continuously upgrade their own expertise. He called for focusing on subject matter knowledge, practical skills, and modern instruction methodology while eliminating irrelevant content from training modules. He urged trainers to foster a supportive and mentorship-driven environment, remarking that the success of an ideal instructor lies in producing personnel more skilled and principled than themselves.
Regarding modernization initiatives, Major General Mahmud highlighted that alongside physical training, drill, and weapons handling, time-tested technical and vocational instruction is being expanded. To address growing domestic and international labor market demands, the academy is offering specialized training in 6G welding, masonry, shuttering, motor driving, Japanese language, international hospitality management, and solar power panel maintenance. These programs aim to promote self-employment, foster entrepreneurship, and widen employment opportunities.
The Director General remarked that converting the nation's youth into a skilled human resource remains a primary objective. He recalled that since the establishment of the Village Defence Party (VDP) in 1976, the force's grassroots outreach has contributed significantly to rural development, social welfare, and economic progress through voluntary service.
Outlining future operational plans, the Director General stated that members of the force would ensure national security while simultaneously engaging in productive economic activities. He directed personnel to remain vigilant in maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, preventing crime at the grassroots level, and coordinating swiftly with other law enforcement agencies during emergencies.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Director General Brigadier General Mamunur Rashid, Academy Commandant and Additional Director General Md. Saifullah Russel, alongside senior officers and training staff.
