Ansar-VDP briefing parade in Barishal on Durga Puja.

On the occasion of the autumn Durga Puja, Ansar and VDP briefing parades were held in Ujirpur and Agailjhara upazilas of Barisal to ensure the security of the puja mandap, maintain law and order and provide necessary guidance to the members in performing their duties. Mohammad Nurul Absar, Deputy Director General of the Barisal Range of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force, was present as the chief guest in the briefing parade organized at two separate places on Thursday. At this time, Barisal District Commandant Md. Rakibul Islam was present and provided necessary instructions to the members in performing their duties.
In the morning, it was announced at a briefing parade held at the Alhaj B.N. Khan Degree College premises in Uzirpur upazila that 714 Ansar-VDP members will be responsible for security at 111 puja mandap in 9 unions and one municipality of the upazila. Later, it was announced at a briefing parade held at the Bhagai Halder Public Academy premises in Agailjhara upazila that 1,032 members will be deployed at 161 puja mandap in this upazila.
Chief guest, Deputy Director General Mohammad Nurul Absar said, "By entrusting an important responsibility like the security of the autumn Durga Puja, the Bangladesh government has placed its trust in the Ansar and the Village Defense Force. To uphold this trust, every member must perform the assigned duties with honesty, dedication, discipline, professionalism and utmost responsibility.
He further said that while performing his duties, a careful eye should be kept on the entrance and exit of the puja mandap. If any suspicious person or object is noticed, the higher authorities should be informed immediately. In case of emergency, the Durga Puja-related security app should be used as per the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs for quick exchange of information and taking necessary measures.
Barishal District Commandant Md. Rakibul Islam said, Ansar-VDP members are trained. Proper application of the knowledge, discipline and professionalism acquired during the performance of duties at the puja mandap must be ensured.
After the briefing parade, the Deputy Director General visited the Rahmatpur Sri Sri Durga Temple in Babuganj Upazila. During this time, he met with the president of the temple and exchanged views with the Ansar-VDP and police members on duty and provided necessary guidelines on mutual coordination and collective performance of duties to maintain overall security and law and order at the temple.
