BNP National Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan said - We have seen many political parties in Bangladesh. We have seen misguided political parties. Awami League is a misguided political party. The fate of Awami League is that they had to flee the country.
He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a form distribution ceremony marking the Bangladesh Nationalist Party's (BNP) new member recruitment and renewal program at the traditional Bhuban Mohan Park in Rajshahi on Saturdayb noon.
He said, those who have come to this government, those who have been given this important responsibility by the people to hold a fair and impartial election in this country and bring the whole of Bangladesh back on the path of democracy. We know that there is a need for reforms here. We know that there is a need for justice in the country. But the question is this - both reform and justice are an ongoing process. It is not like this, we have done reforms today, all reforms are over. We have done justice, all justice is over today. The reform and justice process is not like this.
BNP leader Moin Khan said, "The previous dictatorial government used to say development first, democracy later. I remember that this was a lie to you. Today, we don't want to hear this from anyone - first there will be reforms, first there will be justice, then there will be democracy, then there will be elections. We don't want to hear this from the mouth of the interim government today."
He said, "Now is the time - we will create an environment in Bangladesh in a disciplined manner. Where there will be fair, impartial elections. We have been patient for 16 years. We will be patient for the next few months. We will not go beyond the rules. We will not go beyond the discipline. We will not force anything on anyone. Because that is not democracy, that is dictatorship. BNP does not believe in the politics of dictatorship.
BNP believes in the rule of law. We believe in the power of the people. We believe in the people's vote. We believe in the democracy of the people. No matter how much they conspire, we have confidence in the people of Bangladesh. The people will give us the opportunity to represent them in the upcoming elections."
