Police Commissioner Tisch noted that high-level general debates will commence on September 22, with daily demonstrations planned at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza opposite UN Headquarters, near various diplomatic missions, and across multiple city locations. Mayor Mamdani affirmed that while the city respects First Amendment rights to peaceful assembly, law enforcement will firmly address any violent or destructive behavior, adding that there are currently no credible security threats regarding the planned rallies.

A major flashpoint is expected at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on Sunday afternoon, September 21, 2026, upon the scheduled arrival of Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman via Qatar Airways.
