Mahidul Islam Ripon Dinajpur
Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain said that every time BNP came to power, the country has developed. A shining example of this is Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. As promised by martyred President Ziaur Rahman, the BNP government started the journey of the 500-bed Dinajpur Medical College Hospital when the late national leader Begum Khaleda Zia was the Prime Minister. After that, 20 long years have passed, there has been no improvement in Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. After the current government's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman took charge in the continuation of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and late national leader Begum Khaleda Zia, a decision was taken under his leadership to upgrade Dinajpur Medical College Hospital from 500 beds to 1000 beds.
He said these things in response to questions from journalists before a meeting of the Dinajpur Medical College Hospital Management Committee on Saturday afternoon.
The minister said that currently Dinajpur Medical College Hospital is functioning with 500 beds. The government has decided to upgrade it to 1,000 beds. Accordingly, manpower and infrastructure construction will start very soon. Although Dinajpur Medical College Hospital has 500 beds, 12-14 thousand patients are undergoing treatment indoors. Almost 15 thousand patients are coming for treatment outdoors every day except holidays. Dinajpur Medical College Hospital ensures medical services to the people of a vast area of the northern region.
Later, a meeting of the Dinajpur Medical College Hospital Management Committee was held in the presence of Minister Professor Dr. AZM Zahid.
