State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku, MP, directed authorities to increase the production of day-old chicks (DOC) of improved breeds at the Central Poultry Farm in Mirpur, Dhaka, during an unannounced inspection on Saturday.
During his visit, State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku inspected various poultry sheds, hatcheries, and feed processing units, reviewing production, egg and chick sales, and feed manufacturing metrics with farm officials. He instructed management to streamline operations, expedite the renovation of dilapidated poultry sheds, and address staff shortages to optimize production capacity.
Highlighting the farm's role in the national supply chain, the State Minister emphasized that expanding chick production directly benefits marginal farmers who purchase and rear these birds, thereby contributing to meeting the country's animal protein demands and stabilizing chick prices in the retail market.
MP for Reserved Women's Seat Ferdousi Ahmed, Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Md. Shahzaman Khan, Director of the Central Poultry Farm Zinat Sultana, Project Director Abdur Rahim, and Assistant Director (Goat Farms) Dr. Kabir Uddin Ahmed were present during the inspection.
