Chief Whip exchanges views with journalists on development, employment, making Barguna drug ,extortion-free district

Chief Whip of the Bangladesh National Parliament Nurul Islam Moni said, "This district will develop with your help. We want to make Barguna free from extortionists. Within the next two months, juvenile gangs must be eliminated and online gambling must be stopped." He called on journalists to play a united role in this regard.
He made these remarks at a meeting with journalists from Barguna district on Saturday.
The Chief Whip said that the government wants to work to improve the living standards of the people of Barguna, create employment opportunities and expand higher education opportunities. Referring to the plan to establish a university, medical college and technical educational institution in this district, he said that the blue economy can play an important role in the employment and economic development of the vast population of Barguna. With the aim of ensuring that everyone can earn a living by working, emphasis should be placed on technical education.
Regarding women's empowerment and education, he said, "If the mother is educated, the child will also be educated." Referring to the initiatives taken to expand women's education during the time of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, he said, initiatives like family card and farmer card will play a role in improving the standard of living of the common people.
Highlighting his political stance, the Chief Whip said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman does not believe in the politics of revenge. Instead of revenge, he wants to prioritize the welfare of the people and the development of the area.
Regarding the energy crisis, the Chief Whip said that there may have been an attempt to embarrass the government by creating an artificial crisis despite the availability of fuel oil in the country. He stressed the need to take effective steps to address the existing challenges in the energy supply and power sectors. At the same time, he also criticized the previous government's power purchase agreement.
Highlighting the limitations of healthcare in Barguna, he said that effective initiatives are needed to solve various problems including the shortage of doctors. At the same time, emphasis should be placed on utilizing the economic potential of the district, increasing industry and employment, and expanding educational infrastructure.
Regarding communal harmony, the Chief Whip said, according to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, all citizens have equal rights under the Constitution of Bangladesh. The rights of no citizen can be curtailed on the basis of religious identity. He stressed the importance of protecting the security and property rights of minority communities. In addition, he also spoke about the recent increase in the holiday period during Durga Puja and maintaining religious harmony.
Regarding the law and order situation, he said that effective action must be taken against extortion, juvenile gangs, online gambling and criminal activities in Barguna. Referring to the allegation of assault on an opposition party member, he called for identifying the real culprit and bringing him to justice.
The Chief Whip also said that it is not possible to develop electricity generation or agriculture through long marches or political programs; people's problems must be solved through realistic plans and effective initiatives. He sought the cooperation of journalists in implementing the announced plan for the development of Barguna.
He said, "We want to work towards the development of Barguna by creating universities, medical colleges, employment opportunities and improving the law and order situation. We need your cooperation to implement these goals."
