DU student Taim Howlader wins Gold Medal for Bangladesh at South Asian Karate Championship

Md. Taim Howlader, a first-year student at the Institute of Education and Research, University of Dhaka, won a gold medal for Bangladesh in the under-21 individual event in the 50 kg weight category at the South Asian Karate Championship held in Sri Lanka. This marks his third consecutive gold medal at the South Asian Karate Championship, setting a unique record for Bangladesh.  

Additionally, Md. Taim Howlader secured a silver medal in the 50 kg weight category at the Senior Karate Championship. The Bangladesh team also won a bronze medal in the men's team fight event. The competition took place on July 5 and 6.  

Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bhutan participated in the championship.  

It is mentioned that  Md. Taim Howlader is a residential student at Dhaka University’s Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall.
