Farmers' dialogue held in Jamalpur

A day-long farmers' dialogue was held in Jamalpur on Tuesday. The event, titled "Climate Change: Expectations and Realities," was organized by Unnayan Sangha with funding from Manusher Jonno Foundation and UN Women.

The dialogue took place at the conference room of the Jamalpur District Fisheries Officer and was presided over by Shamima Khan, President of Gano Chetana.

The chief guest was Zakia Sultana, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Jamalpur.

Other notable speakers included Monjur Alam, Deputy Director of the Department of Women Affairs; ATM Habibur Rahman, Training Officer of the District Livestock Office; Md. Rezaul Karim, Farm Manager of the District Fisheries Office Production Farm; Fatema Nargis, Program Coordinator of Gano Chetana; and farmer Shahin Mondal, among others.

More than 50 male and female farmers participated in the dialogue, which focused on the adverse effects of climate change on farming, raising awareness about crop diseases, following agricultural advice, protecting crop nutrition, and preserving seeds.
