Health officer allegedly embezzled funds thru' fake bill in name of retired cleaners

Dr. Amanullah Al Mamun, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer at Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex, faces allegations of embezzling TK 30,000 in government funds using a fraudulent bill for septic tank cleaning.
The bill (No. 87, dated June 24, 2026) was issued under the name of Santosh Kumar Das, a cleaner who retired nearly ten years ago. Das stated he has not worked at the hospital since retirement, knew nothing about the bill, and signed no documents. Hospital accountant Abdul Aziz stated Dr. Mamun has excluded him from all accounting duties since taking charge.
Dr. Mamun denied the corruption charges, though he faces prior claims of financial irregularities in purchasing office supplies and equipment since joining on June 11, 2026.
Jhenaidah Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman confirmed the matter will be investigated and appropriate action taken if proven true. Local stakeholders are demanding an independent inquiry into the matter.
