
Humayun–Anwar Panel wins in N'ganj Lawyers' Assoc election

In the annual (2025–2026) election of the Narayanganj District Lawyers’ Association, the panel led by Advocate Sarker Humayun Kabir (President) and Advocate H.M. Anwar (General Secretary), nominated by the Nationalist Lawyers’ Forum, secured a sweeping victory by winning 16 out of 17 posts with a large margin of votes.
The only exception was one member post, where Advocate Afroza Jahan of the Jamaat-backed panel was elected.
The election commission announced the results on Thursday at midnight. Earlier, voting was held peacefully and in a festive atmosphere from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Senior lawyer Abdul Bari Bhuiyan served as the Chief Election Commissioner. Out of a total of 1,173 registered voters, 1,153 cast their votes, while 20 voters were absent.
The elected candidates are as follows: Senior Vice-President: Advocate Kazi Abdul Gaffar, Vice-President: Advocate Saddam Hossain, Joint General Secretary: Advocate Omar Faruk Noyon, Treasurer: Advocate Shahazada Dewan, Hospitality Secretary: Advocate Main Uddin Reza, Library Secretary: Advocate Habibur Rahman, Sports Secretary: Advocate Aminul Islam, Literature & Cultural Secretary: Advocate Sarwar Jahan, Social Welfare Secretary: Advocate Rajib Mondal and Law & Human Rights Secretary: Advocate Mamun Mahmud.
The five winners of the Member posts are: Advocate Fatema Akter Sweety, Advocate Tehsin Hasan Dipu, Advocate Dewan Ashraful Islam, Advocate Abu Raihan, and Advocate Afroza Jahan.
Meanwhile, since morning, BNP and Jamaat-backed lawyers and senior political leaders gathered inside three separate pavilions to support their respective candidates. The court premises remained lively throughout the day with the slogans and presence of party activists.
Note: In the 2025–2026 election of the Narayanganj District Lawyers’ Association, a total of 49 candidates contested for 17 posts—48 from three panels and 1 independent candidate.
The full panels were: The Nationalist Lawyers’ Forum Panel, led by Advocate Sarker Humayun Kabir and Advocate H.M. Anwar. The Bangladesh Lawyers Council Panel (Jamaat-backed), led by Advocate Hafizur Rahman and Advocate Md. Mainuddin Mia The Lawyers Unity Council Partial Panel, led by Advocate Rezaul Karim Khan Reza (President candidate) and Advocate Sheikh Md. Golam Morshed Galib (General Secretary candidate) Additionally, Advocate Mohammad Ali contested as an independent candidate.
