Husband, wife arrested with Marijuana, cannabis plants in Munshiganj

A husband and wife have been arrested with marijuana and a large cannabis plant in Sirajdikhan, Munshiganj at 11:30 PM on Sunday. Police stated that both individuals were involved in drug smuggling .
In a press release issued on Monday afternoon, Additional Superintendent of Police (Finance and Administration) of the district, Mohammad Kazi Humayun Rashdi, stated that based on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at the residence of the arrested couple in Nayagaon area of Chitrakot Union under the upazila. During the operation, police recovered 2.75 kilograms of marijuana worth approximately 55,000 BDT, along with a 9-foot-tall cannabis plant being cultivated beside the house.
The arrested individuals are identified as Mohiuddin Bepari (60), son of the late Samir Uddin Bepari, and his wife Rehena Begum (50), residents of the same area.
He further stated that a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act at Sirajdikhan Police Station, and the couple has been sent to court.
