MoU between DU, IDEA signed

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday between the University of Dhaka and the electoral observer organization International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), with the aim of launching joint educational and research initiatives. Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Treasurer of the University of Dhaka, and Leena Rikkilä Tamang, Director for South Asia at International IDEA, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.
The signing ceremony was held at the conference room adjacent to the Vice Chancellor’s office at the University of Dhaka. Among others present at the event were Professor Dr. Nasima Khatun, Chairperson of the Department of Political Science; Professor Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, Director of International Affairs; and Professor Mohammad Ainul Islam from the Department of Political Science.
Under this MoU, the University of Dhaka and International IDEA will work jointly to define inclusive politics, democratic structures, and to strengthen cooperation among political parties. Additionally, both institutions will encourage youth participation in sustainable democratic systems and work towards increasing their representation in democratic reforms. Furthermore, through the Youth Democracy Academy, the two institutions will collaborate to enhance education and research on democracy.
It is mentioned that International IDEA is an intergovernmental organization working globally to establish sustainable democracy.
