Nine people pushed at Patgram border in Lalmonirhat

At the Burimari border in Patgram Upazila, Lalmonirhat, nine people including two children and three women were pushed into Bangladesh  by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

 Early Wednesday morning, members of the 98 BSF Battalion from Bishbari Camp sent them back into Bangladesh near Pillar No. 838. Subsequently, a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) patrol detained them in the Mashirbari area of Burimari Union.

The detainees include Mosharaf Hossain (50), son of the late Iman Ali Biswas; his wife Parvin Begum (40); their son Mohammad Rabbi (26), Rabbi’s wife Mosha: Barsha (22) and their three-year-old daughter Mosha: Joya; Mohammad Nahid Hossain (24); Md. Sajib Ali (16); and the late Iman Ali’s wife Kohinur Nesha (70). All of them are residents of Mongolhata village in Lohagara Upazila, Narail District.

According to BGB, they had crossed into India about ten years ago. Recently, they were detained by the Indian police in Gujarat state and later sent back to Bangladesh through the BSF.

OC of Patgram Police Station Mizanur Rahman said, “The detainees are currently in police custody at the safe home of Burimari Union Parishad. After verification, they will be handed over to their relatives.”
