Police did not take case against Mithapukur principal for attempted murder in Mithapukur

The investigating officer of the case of the public beating and attempted murder of Principal Mahedul Alam in Pairabande, Mithapukur Upazila, Rangpur, has been accused of not taking up the case at the instigation of the alleged student coordinator, even though the initial investigation revealed the truth of the incident.
Mithapukur Police Station OC Noor Alam Siddiqui confirmed that no case will be filed in the incident of the beating of the principal on Monday (August 11). Earlier, the principal was attacked the day after he filed a complaint at the police station seeking protection for his life following threats from Razzaqur Rahman Gong on Thursday.
According to the complaint, Mahedul Alam, the principal of Pairaband Begum Rokeya Smriti Girls School and College in Mithapukur Upazila, is in a dispute with Razzakur Rahman, a senior teacher of the institution, over various issues of the institution. Meanwhile, in the wake of Razzakur Rahman's complaint, Razzakur Rahman Gang beat up Principal Mahedul Alam and threatened to kill him last Wednesday during the investigation at the District Education Office. After Principal Mahedul Alam filed a complaint with the Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station seeking safety in this incident, unknown miscreants led by Razzakur Rahman Gang attacked Sadarpur in Pairaband Union of the upazila at 3:30 pm on Friday. During this, Mahedul was severely beaten up, taken hostage and his signature was taken on three blank stamps of one hundred taka.
Meanwhile, with the help of locals, he was rescued and admitted to Mithapukur Upazila Health Complex at night. Principal Mahedul filed a complaint with Mithapukur Police Station. In view of the complaint, SI Bhavesh of Mithapukur Police Station went to the spot and investigated and according to the truth of the incident, he made two out of the five named accused accused and the rest as unknown accused for recording the case. He accepted the written complaint again and assured the plaintiff to record the case. After that, Razzakur Rahman started lobbying through the alleged student coordinator and political party leaders not to record the case. At the same time, false propaganda in the name of Principal Mahedul was started through social media under the leadership of the son of the accused Razzakur Rahman.
An officer working at Mithapukur police station, who did not want to be named, said that student coordinators and big political leaders are lobbying not to file a case in the beating incident against the principal. The case was supposed to be recorded on Saturday night after the truth about the beating was found. Now, there is a strong lobbying going on not to file a case against the principal by giving him the Awami tag. That is why the OC sir is wasting time by not filing a case.
The victim principal Mahedul Alam said, "I was temporarily suspended by creating a mob and giving it the Awami tag. Now they have threatened me publicly again. After filing a complaint at the police station, I filed a complaint again at the police station after seeking medical treatment for the attack on me. The police investigated the spot and found the truth and said that the accused should be reduced to 5. Later, I reduced the accused and re-submitted the complaint according to the truth of the investigation. Even then, the police is not taking any action at the behest of an invisible force. I am a victim of mob justice. Meanwhile, the accused Razzakur Rahman denied the attack and said that this allegation is completely false.
SI Bhavesh of Mithapukur Police Station said, "We went to the spot and investigated the incident of beating Principal Mahedul, revised the complaint and submitted a report to the OC sir. Now the matter of recording the case is under the consideration of the OC sir."
Mithapukur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui said that no case has been registered yet in the incident of beating the principal. When asked by a reporter whether a case is being filed due to lobbying by the coordinator and political leaders, he said, "This is a matter for those who said it. It is still under investigation."
Rangpur District Police Superintendent Md. Abu Saim said, "We are aware of the matter. Necessary legal action will be taken after initial verification of the complaint."
