
Rohingya woman arrested in N’ganj while applying for passport

A Rohingya woman has been arrested by police in Fatullah, Narayanganj, while attempting to obtain a Bangladeshi passport. She was detained on Wednesday afternoon from the regional passport office in Bhuiyaghar, Fatullah.
The arrested woman has been identified as Hasina (29), daughter of Jalal Ahmed from Dakshin Hnila, Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
According to sources, around 3 p.m. Wednesday, Hasina went to the Bhuiyaghar regional passport office to apply for a Bangladeshi passport. During the document verification process, officials discovered that she was a Rohingya and subsequently handed her over to the police.
Police also recovered various documents submitted with her passport application, including a National ID card.
