Wastes of submerged char, thermal power plant hit hilsa production
H.M Rasel, Amtali (Barguna)
Even during the monsoon season, the pigeon is not seen in the river the desired silver hilsa. The hilsa returned to the opposite side of the sea, and the fishermen blamed the thermal power plant waste.
The hot water and waste of the Durochar and the Fig. Pigera hindered the entry and breeding of hilsa in the river, said retired Chief Scientific Officer and Hilsa Research Md. Anisur Rahman.
The fishes are not caught in the net in the pigeon river. The fishermen have demanded that the entry and breeding activities of the hilsa enter the pigeon river by digging the submerged seas of the sea.
It is reported that the Buriswar River or Pigera River is a river in Barisal, Patuakhali and Barguna districts in the southwestern part of Bangladesh.
The length of the river is 5 km, the average width is 120 meters and the nature of the river is spiraling. The Buriswar River or Pigeon River originated from the flowing Pandav river in the Kalsakati Union area of Bakarganj upazila of Barisal district. Then the water stream of this river fell into the Bay of Bengal. The side of the river is more wide than the river. On the other hand, the poisonous and Bolshwar rivers have joined the Bay of Bengal. The mouth of the three rivers is called the Gang's Isle in the language of the fishermen.
The Bay of Bengal is the poisonous-Baleswar Mohana Laldia beach and Padmababuganjchar at the attraction of Pigeon-poisoning. At the mouth of the three rivers, the chara creates the normal tidal water to enter. As a result, the depth of the river is decreasing day by day. Pigeon-Bishekhali is at the mouth of the river Barayar Dubo Char. This char is tied from the Bay of Bengal to the pigeon river to enter the tidal water. Nalbunia's submerged grazing started from the end of the hope. The expansion of this fodder is 3-5 km. This submerged chara is located at the entrance to the Pigeon River. Padma and Crocodile Dubo Char crossed the entrance to the pigeon 3-5 km. The expansion of this fodder is 3-5 km. People are walking in the field. The fishermen dropped the net. During the tide, the submerged storm was stormy. At this time, the silver hilsa was tied to the entry of the tidal water from the sea because of the submerged grazing. Besides, the Isotech Thermal Power Station was constructed in the Jalabhanga area adjacent to the Bay of Bengal in Taltali. The power plant went into production in 2022. From that time the heat and hot water of the thermal power plant were dumped into the pigeon river. For these reasons, the pigeons are now mainly bound to enter the hilsa in the river.
The coastal region is in Amtali and Taltali, with 5,700 registered fishermen. Of these, the Amtali is 5,900 and the Taltali 5,900 fishermen. They live below the poverty line. Their family lives throughout the year by fishing. If the fish are caught in the rivers and the sea, their lifetime is good. And if the fish is not caught, the wool does not get up in the jail. In the deep sea of the coastal region, on the banks of the sea and the branch of the sea, the river is fishing in three categories of fishermen. The season of hilsa is the month of Ashar, Sravan, Bhadra and Ashwin. During these four months, fishermen hunt fish and pay calculations all year long. Already a month has passed in the hilsa season. But despite the full season, the pigeons are not caught in the fishermen of the river. In this they are living a better life. The fishermen said the family did not go through what the two were reading on the bed. They also said that the main obstacle to entering the hilsa in the pigeon river is submerged in the sea. The hilsa is returning to the opposite direction because of the submerged chara. As a result, the hilsa pigeons are not entering the river with the sea. The hilsa hunters are not caught in the net of fishermen in the pigeon river.
On the other hand, the intense submergence of the river was caused by the cyclone Cedar hit the river. Due to the submerged sea of sea, the pigeon cannot enter the river at the first part of the tide. At that time, there was the root time of entering the river Elisha, but the hilsa returned to the opposite direction. At the middle of the tide, the pigeon entered the river at a sharp pace, but the effect of the hilsa was reduced at that time. The hilsa pigeons did not enter the river because the fishermen were not found in the net.
Alamgir Howlader, a fisherman from Nalbunia village adjacent to the sea, said that the pigeons were tied to the normal tidal water in the river due to the sinking of the sea. The silver hilsa cannot enter the pigeon. The pigeon will not be found in the pigeon river by digging the river by digging this submerged char. To protect the fishermen of the Pigeon River, it is necessary to dig fast submerged chars. He added that hot water and waste of the thermal power plant was associated with it.
Chhatar, Lal Mia and Zahid Mollah, the hilsa hunter in the pigeon river, said that the first part of the tide does not have much currents in the river. As a result, the hilsa cannot enter. In the middle of the tide, the intensity of the currents in the river increases. The hilsa that comes to that stream caught us in the net. So the pigeons are not seen in the river. They also said that the pigeons will not enter the river if the submerged chars are not dug at the mouth of the river.
Taltali Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Victor Bain said the pigeon river has lost the navigability of the river due to the submerged sea. As the tidal currents have decreased the intensity of the hilsa, the entry into the hilsa. So the pigeons are low in the river. If the pigeon can be dug at the mouth of the river, the hilsa can be entered and breeding if the river can be restored. He added that the hilsa entered the river with the first tide from the sea. At that time, the hilsa was interrupted by the submergence and returned to the sea in the opposite direction.
Retired Chief Scientific Officer and Hilsa Researcher of Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute River Chandpur. Md. Anisur Rahman said that the hilsa movement was settled in the seizure of the sea, as well as the intense navigability crisis. Deep water is needed in the movement of the hilsa, but due to the submergence, the amount of depth in the river can not enter the hilsa with the sea. As a result, the hilsa is not available in the river.
