
Workshop held in Magura ahead of Typhoid Vaccination Campaign

A workshop was held in Magura on Wednesday morning at the conference room of the District Islamic Foundation, marking the upcoming Typhoid Vaccination Campaign.
The day-long workshop, held under the project titled “Awareness Activities for the Development of Children, Adolescents, and Women,” brought together local media representatives to discuss the vaccination program.
The event was presided over by District Information Officer Pavel Das, while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Abdul Kader attended as the chief guest. Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Shamim Kabir and Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation Magura, Muhammad Mojib Ullah Farhad, were present as special guests. Magura Press Club President Saidur Rahman and General Secretary Shafiqul Islam Shafiq also delivered speeches at the event.
During the workshop, it was announced that from October 12 to November 13, over 18 working days, registered children and students aged 9 months to under 15 years will receive one dose of typhoid vaccine free of cost. The workshop was organized by the District Information Office with the support of UNICEF Bangladesh, and attended by journalists from various print and electronic media outlets in the district.
Meanwhile, a press conference was also held on Wednesday at the conference room of the Civil Surgeon’s Office in preparation for the upcoming campaign. The event was presided over by Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Shamim Kabir. Among others, Dr. Pratik Kumar Bonik, Dr. Suravi Akter, Senior Health Education Officer Zillur Rahman, Junior Health Education Officer Hayat Hossain, Press Club President Saidur Rahman, and General Secretary Shafiqul Islam Shafiq spoke at the event.
At the press conference, it was informed that a total of 247,876 children and students aged 9 months to under 15 years across the district will be given one free dose of typhoid vaccine in two phases. The campaign, running from October 12 to November 13, will be conducted through 2,300 vaccination centers, with necessary healthcare workers deployed to ensure smooth implementation.
