A protest march and rally were held in Mirzapur, Tangail, to protest against the insulting of the picture of the great independence proclaimer, martyred President Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam, slander against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, and propaganda against BNP at the Mirzapur Government SK Pilot Field premises on Monday noon.
In this, under the chairmanship of Mirzapur Upazila BNP Acting President Adv Abdur Rouf, BNP National Executive Committee Children's Affairs Secretary and former two-time MP Abul Kalam Azad Siddiqui spoke as the chief guest.
Since the morning, party leaders and activists from Mirzapur Municipality and various unions started gathering in the field with separate processions to make the rally a success. Later, they all circled the various main roads of the municipality headquarters. Hundreds of thousands of people participated in the protest procession and rally.
Upazila BNP General Secretary Khandaker Salauddin Arif and Municipal BNP General Secretary SM Mohsin Hossain were present.
Upazila BNP Joint General Secretary Khandaker Anwar Parvez Shah-Alam, Union BNP General Secretary Md. Anisur Rahman Jewel, Mohila Dal President Khaleda Siddiqui Swapna, Mirzapur Upazila BNP, municipal branches and affiliate organizations leaders were also present.
