‘Ashar Parbon’ Festival celebrated at DU

To welcome the monsoon season, the Dhaka University Cultural Council organized the ‘Ashar Parbon-1432’ Festival on Sunday at TSC.
On this occasion, a cultural program and a day-long entrepreneur fair were organized. Dhaka University Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury inaugurated the festival at the TSC auditorium. Prof Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, Advisor to the Ministry of Education, was present as the chief guest at the event.
The program was presided over by Dr. Rasheda Rawnak Khan, Moderator of Dhaka University Cultural Council and Associate Professor of the Department of Anthropology. Eminent cultural personality Tariq Anam Khan and renowned dancer Munmun Ahmed were present as special guests. In addition, Associate Professor Tanvir Nahid Khan, Advisor of the Cultural Council, President Nafia Farzana Amia, and General Secretary Rawnak Jahan Rakamoni delivered speeches at the event. At the beginning of the program, one minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of the July mass uprising.
Prof Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, Advisor to the Ministry of Education, said that currently we are going through an unstable time both nationally and internationally. We all want a healthy society. To this end, cultural activities need to be strengthened. He expressed hope that through this festival, the cultural practices of the new generation would increase further.
Treasurer Prof Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that through the July mass uprising, earned by the sacrifices of thousands, we have achieved a new Bangladesh. To fulfill the dream of this new Bangladesh, we want to build Dhaka University as the country’s unique institution in education and research. In this regard, he sought everyone’s cooperation. He urged the students to participate in co-curricular and cultural activities alongside their studies.
At the event, the Cultural Council’s published magazine ‘Badla Din’ was unveiled. After the inaugural ceremony, an attractive cultural program was presented.
