Rangpur Begum Rokeya University has inaugurated an inter-departmental debate competition in memory of Shaheed Abu Sayeed.
The two-day competition, organized under the theme "Against injustice, fearless explosion of arguments", was inaugurated by Rangpur Begum Rokeya University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Shawkat Ali in the virtual classroom of the university's Academic Building-2 on Friday.
The event was presided over by the convener of the competition and Director of the Student Counseling and Guidance Department, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ilias Pramanik, and Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal was the chief guest. University Registrar Dr. Mohammad Harun-ur Rashid was the special guest at the event. Twenty-two departments of the university are participating in the inter-departmental debate competition in memory of Shaheed Abu Sayeed.
Teachers and students of various departments of the university were present at the inaugural ceremony in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Department. At that time, Rangpur Begum Rokeya University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Shawkat Ali said, "We have started this inter-departmental debate competition today in memory of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, which is a brilliant exercise in rational thinking."
The Vice Chancellor said, "Abu Sayeed has dedicated his life for truth and justice. His spirit will inspire our young generation to move forward on the path of fairness, reason and humanity."
